Here we go!

Well, this is it! Time for Jared and I to become parents for the first time! :-) It came much sooner than we expected but we feel so blessed and honored that God is trusting us with another life to love and take care of.

Amazingly, when I took the pregnancy test on July 6th I really did not think it would be positive. I had been having some random symtpoms, like sore throat, major breakouts, and the major symptom of chest (if you know what I mean) soreness haha but nothing like nausea or anything that really pointed towards pregnant. I took 4 tests in all, all say PREGNANT! When I found out I was about 4 weeks along. I didn't have everything ready to surprise Jared yet so when we went on a date that night to dinner and a movie I had to struggle to keep my mouth SHUT! It was hard! But I wanted to make it special for him when he found out so the next day I got everything in place to surprise him.

When Jared came home Sassy had a new baby rattle toy along with a homemade shirt proclaiming that she is "Big Sister". There was a baby blanket draped over the back of the couch and on the table were a book entitle Dude, You're Gonna be a Dad!, the pregnancy tests, a onesie that said I Love my Daddy, and a card. I would describe his reaction but it would be more fun to show you so here it is :-)

After the shock wore off a little bit we decided to head out to Abuelos and celebrate! First prenatal appointment will be on August 10th when I am about 9 weeks along. Stay tuned to see our parents and siblings reactions when we told them the happy news! :-)

A word from Daddy,

Wow, I am so excited to be able to say that word about myself. I am going to be a daddy!!! I had no clue that I would come home today to find out the best news I have ever heard. Part of me wishes I could go back and redo that video (had I known I was being filmed) so that I could have picked up on it a little faster. You would think a t-shirt on our dog with the words "big sister", a baby rattle toy, parenting books and little baby clothes would give it away in a second but it obviously took me a little longer to fully understand. Oh well. I am so excited that Brittany and I are going to have a baby! God has truly blessed us beyond measure. Just hearing the words come out of her mouth caused an even deeper love than I have ever felt before. She is now not only my wife and my best friend, she is now the mother who is carrying God's most special gift to us. I can not stop smiling even as I write this. I could not be more confident in my wife as a mother, she is going to be the best and I can not wait for the next nine months of doctors appointments and preparations (my wife might differ) all leading up to the day we will get to hold our baby for the first time! Thank you God for this special, special gift, the gift of life!

-Jared
