Our Families Find Out!

So after telling Jared that he is going to be a Daddy on Thursday night we decided we couldn't wait to tell our immediate families! I sent out a text to my parents, Kellie and Clint, and Brandy and Tatum that we wanted to have them over to hang out and watch a movie on Friday night. Knowing my family, they all had a little inkling that something was up considering it was such short notice and everyone was invited all at once, but they were good sports and waited for the surprise. We wanted it to be as much of a surprise as possible so I took the video of Jared finding out and added a photo montage of Tatum's 6th birthday to the beginning of it. When they started watching it they didn't suspect that it was anything other than a cute video that Aunt Brittany made of Tater's Bday. :-) We surprised them! Watch the video to see their reactions!

Of course, since my mom had a feeling that we might be announcing that we were pregnant she bought us a few pregnancy related things just in case :-) It was so much fun having them all over and sharing in the exciting news!

Jared also asked his parents if they would want to go have dinner on Saturday night together. We decided to go to Cheesecake Factory. When we got to their house we told them we had made a quick video of Thomas and our family from over the 4th of July weekend and that it was only about 2 minutes long if they wanted to go ahead and watch it. I don't think they suspected this announcement at all! ;-)

Last but not least, we finally got a hold of Jared's brother Josh and let him know that we sent him a video of Thomas from that past weekend and to call us when he had a chance to watch it! He called us and was surprised and excited about his niece or nephew to be! :-)

We are so excited and anxious to be able to tell everyone but we will have to wait a little longer for that! ;-)

Here we go!

Well, this is it! Time for Jared and I to become parents for the first time! :-) It came much sooner than we expected but we feel so blessed and honored that God is trusting us with another life to love and take care of.

Amazingly, when I took the pregnancy test on July 6th I really did not think it would be positive. I had been having some random symtpoms, like sore throat, major breakouts, and the major symptom of chest (if you know what I mean) soreness haha but nothing like nausea or anything that really pointed towards pregnant. I took 4 tests in all, all say PREGNANT! When I found out I was about 4 weeks along. I didn't have everything ready to surprise Jared yet so when we went on a date that night to dinner and a movie I had to struggle to keep my mouth SHUT! It was hard! But I wanted to make it special for him when he found out so the next day I got everything in place to surprise him.

When Jared came home Sassy had a new baby rattle toy along with a homemade shirt proclaiming that she is "Big Sister". There was a baby blanket draped over the back of the couch and on the table were a book entitle Dude, You're Gonna be a Dad!, the pregnancy tests, a onesie that said I Love my Daddy, and a card. I would describe his reaction but it would be more fun to show you so here it is :-)

After the shock wore off a little bit we decided to head out to Abuelos and celebrate! First prenatal appointment will be on August 10th when I am about 9 weeks along. Stay tuned to see our parents and siblings reactions when we told them the happy news! :-)

A word from Daddy,

Wow, I am so excited to be able to say that word about myself. I am going to be a daddy!!! I had no clue that I would come home today to find out the best news I have ever heard. Part of me wishes I could go back and redo that video (had I known I was being filmed) so that I could have picked up on it a little faster. You would think a t-shirt on our dog with the words "big sister", a baby rattle toy, parenting books and little baby clothes would give it away in a second but it obviously took me a little longer to fully understand. Oh well. I am so excited that Brittany and I are going to have a baby! God has truly blessed us beyond measure. Just hearing the words come out of her mouth caused an even deeper love than I have ever felt before. She is now not only my wife and my best friend, she is now the mother who is carrying God's most special gift to us. I can not stop smiling even as I write this. I could not be more confident in my wife as a mother, she is going to be the best and I can not wait for the next nine months of doctors appointments and preparations (my wife might differ) all leading up to the day we will get to hold our baby for the first time! Thank you God for this special, special gift, the gift of life!
